Some simple security tips for staying safe on minehut

 

1. The grandma's rule, Don't open links from someone you don't know! Clicking on a malicious link is the easiest way to get hacked, Only click on links that are sent to you by people you trust.

2. Use 2fa where you can! 2fa is a way to add another layer of security by using a (sometimes changing) code. Apps like authy and Google Authenticator are examples. they make a code that changes every 30 seconds and tells you it on an app, then you put it into the program and it lets you in! This is available on (But not limited to) discord and the forums. You could also make a skript that functions like 2fa and makes you input an extra code.

3. Don't share your password with anyone! I know this may sound dumb, but seriously, don't give your password to someone you don't trust.

4. Minehut or SLG staff will never ask for personal information! If a minehut staff member asks for your account password, Do not give it to them, Minehut or SLG staff will NEVER ask for your password, If a minehut staff member asks for this info, check to see if they are actually a real staff member, and if they are fake, report them to an actual staff member.

5. Security Questions! Just set up security question, Any extra layer of security is a good move

 

So what should you do if you do get compromised?

Well the main thing you can do is change your password, That is the best way to secure your account. If you are unable to change your password for whatever reason, contact an actual minehut staff member and send them proof of you owning the account, tell them it was hacked so that they can ban you. Then when you get full access back to your account. Make an appeal on the forums with proof that you have changed your password so that the account can be unbanned!
