xGtfoAly Posted July 16, 2021 Share Posted July 16, 2021 (edited) As a professional builder for over 2.5 years, and never had ever heard of Minehut, I received my first job here a few months ago for a well-known server named Products. We earned many members (and counting) and have been very successful ever since. I've slowly added additions to the server from time to time. Today, I experienced something that I hope no other builder/ seller should- fraud. My builds were stolen from me and sold without my consent through a world downloader; which is as easy as joining a server, pressing a button and walking around... it copies everything it can. Even with an anti installed, I fell victim to this attack! With help of a few friends/staff members (tysm World+Vasture) we found our culprit who was clearly guilty. The innocent server who had been using my build without realizing apologized and initiated a chargeback! Not to mention, EVEN WITH SIGNS THAT HAD STATED MY IGN (xGtfoAly) my builds were STILL stolen + used! Even if this doesn't get changed awareness is even better: OWNERS WHO ARE BUYING BUILDS- BE AWARE PLEASE OF WHAT YOURE BUYING AND WHO! STAFF- BE VIGILANT OF PLAYERS + SUS BEHAVIOR! BUILDERS- TRUST IN WHO YOURE SELLING TO, GET TO KNOW THEM, MARK YOUR BUILDS UP AND DOWN WITH YOUR IGN ON SIGNS, BE VIGILANT OF OTHER SERVERS + WEBSITES THAT SELL BUILDS! If someone really wants a map, they will find a way to bypass it. People are really scummy. I personally don't think anyone should be able to join a server and easily use world downloader for such a thing. Its easily abused and personally I wouldn't care too much if they were giving it away for free, but the it becomes a BIGGER issue when they're earning real money off of my work. Even IF there was a toggle for an anti world downloader: if someone really wants a map, they will find a way to bypass it. I'm hoping that would fix the problem, but what would be better if it wasn't allowed in the first place! There are plenty of other ways to receive a map the CORRECT way. If the builder had put it up for free (a free download) on the internet then its yours! Good on you for crediting them!! However, banning world downloaders would only cause law-abiding people not to use them for their legit purposes.
