Mod or plugin?

Mods require changing your server type to Forge/Fabric, then finding a lifesteal plugin for forge or fabric and then for your server's version.

For a plugin, just make sure your server type is Paper then upload the jar file to the plugins folder and restart. But do ensure the plugin is compatible with your server's version.
