How do I add custom color codes?

How do I use custom color codes? 

 

command /text:
	trigger:
		send "<00AAFF>hi" to player

I have tried this but instead of sending hi in a nice blue color, it sends <00AAFF>hi without formatting? how do I fix this?

you need to do:

command /text:
  trigger:
    send formatted "<##00AAFF>hi" to player

What encrypt said, but for me I can just do send, I don't need to do send formatted
