'Velocity" hack?

So now the MOTD for all Minehut servers (including the main one) say "A Velocity Server". I am not sure if this is a hack or what, but it still shows that there are around 600 people online. When I try to join, it says "Shutting Down..." in red and won't let me join. Please give answers.

Same thing is happening to me. I would say it's regular maintenance, but a lot of strange stuff has been happening. (eg. spawn moved into the ocean, griefing in lobby 3.) I've also been disconnected a lot. Not sure...

I was on one of my friends' servers and all of our villagers/mobs disappeared than the server crashed. Haven't been able to join back in.

Now it's fixed. Like it never happened. Velocity is a Minecraft server proxy.
