Is Paper 1.17 compatible with the new update Cliff and Caves ?

Hello,

 

I'm new to Minehut and I can see that I have a server on "paper 1.17". I am not really sure what that means and what are the difference between paper and the other type.

However my main question is: Is my biome on this server generated with the new Caves and Cliffs update? Or is it the old version?

The generation is a 1.18 feature, which paper and spigot support. (paper is not stable with 1.18 yet)

tbh i dont get the difference between paper and spigot, but i think paper is just better
