My command blocks won't work! Please help!

I'm starting a server and I need command blocks to teleport the player that stepped on the pressure plate somewhere, @p doesn't work for that, and I don't want to use warps because everyone who isn't OP can't use them. (As far as I know.) Please help, how can I get my command blocks to teleport players who step on the pressure plates? I'm also okay with using buttons or levers if I need to.

If you have the plugin essentials installed @p will not work with /tp. Try putting /minecraft:tp @p (coords here) into the command block and see if that works.
