Minehut Rewind 2019 - The Year of Growth

What a year it has been! Minehut has grown, changed, and evolved a ton over the past year. We had some bad moments, but as a community we all grew together and made some amazing moments and memories we can all share together. While we might not have the same budget of YouTube Rewind, what we do have is the dedication and love for this community (Ouch YouTube!). So we decided to take a step back into time and look at all the amazing moments we've had this year. Let's hope we'll all still be here to experience the next decade of Minehut. Enjoy!

Timeline of Events in 2019

• January 3, 2019: NEW Support system. We added a dedicated page on our panel (https://minehut.com/support) to create support tickets and get help for your Minehut server. This is way easier than needing to send us an email or ask through our Discord server.
• January 4, 2019: We brought back Featured servers! People are able to submit their servers to be featured, and if they're featured they get advertised in multiple places across Minehut's platforms. This encourages people to make well-developed and well-built servers. The first server that was featured was Hail, which was at the time showcased on our weekly live-stream called "Good Grief".
• January 12 - 13, 2019: NEW player record of 1208 players online at once on the 12th, then 1257 peak players online on the 13th. Before these days, our player record was only 1057 players which we hit back in June 10, 2018.
• February 14, 2019: We took the time to go through our large repo of 259 plugins and update them all. At the time of writing this, we now have 409 downloadable plugins (almost double!).
• February 23, 2019: Shubble recorded a video on Minehut for our Block Party event! This is where a YouTuber makes a server and records their progress each week and at the end of the month, they live-stream the server and make it public for everyone.
• February 25, 2019: We hit a new player record of 1275 players online at once!
• March 10, 2019: New player record of 1326 players online at once.
• March 14, 2019: Thanks to a plugin developer, we got permission to add their premium (paid) plugin to Minehut! The plugin is called Vouchers, which the author BadBones69 allowed us to add.
• March 16, 2019: New player record of 1353 players online at once.
• March 17, 2019: Shubble live-streams their CTF server! This server was made possible by our Minehut build team as well as the Minehut admins to help develop and build the server. We hit a new player record of 1441 players online at once!
• March 29, 2019: We released a new lobby in Minehut! This lobby was made with help from our Minehut build team.
• April 9, 2019: We made ALL plugins free! We felt that while charging players for plugins made it easy to help pay for Minehut's costs, it wasn't the best way to make money. Anyone that bought a plugin a week before this change was refunded.
• April 13 - 14, 2019: New player record of 1516 players, and then 1736 players online at once (Over 1500 players on at once!).
• April 16, 2019: We updated Minehut to 1.13.2 from 1.12.2. We had to remove some plugins as they didn't support 1.13 as 1.12.2 is quite different from newer versions so older plugins don't work on these newer MC versions.
• April 22, 2019: We updated the Minehut file manager so players can now upload and update datapacks with the .mcmeta extension.
• May 4 - 5, 2019: Minehut hit 2 new player records of 2063 players, and then 2271 players online at once.
• May 19, 2019: Our Discord server hits a new record of 15000 people in it.
• May 21, 2019: We updated Minehut from 1.13.2 to 1.14.1 (91% of plugins supported this new versions and were updated).
• May 24 - 26, 2019: Minehut hit 3 new player records 3 days in a row! We had 2469 players, 3231 players, and then 3374 players on at once. This was the first time we had over 3000 players online at once.
• May 28, 2019: Minehut updates the logo to be a new one. It's a very similar design, except with a lightning bolt going through the diamond. This is the same lightning bolt that's present in Super League Gaming's logo (the company that owns Minehut).
• June 1, 2019: We updated Minehut from 1.14.1 to 1.14.2.
• June 2, 2019: We hit a new player record of 3593 players online at once.
• June 5, 2019: We added a private Discord channel for our Discord Nitro boosters! This is to encourage people to boost our Discord server so we can get cool, exclusive features on our Discord server.
• June 9, 2019: We hit a new player record of 3761 players online at once.
• June 10, 2019: We released a NEW Minehut forums! This new forums has a ton of cool features like private clubs (mini forums for your Minehut server) and it uses the same Minehut account as your panel. No need to use 2 separate accounts.
• June 13, 2019: We updated the JAR we used for Minehut servers so your player servers use Paper instead of Spigot.
• June 15, 2019: HBomb94 recorded a video on Minehut for our next Block Party event! HBomb is working on a Murder Mystery server for Block Party.
• June 19, 2019: We updated the forums to also include a dark theme as well as a way to automatically reply to forum DMs!
• June 23, 2019: We hit a new player record of 3876 players online at once.
• June 25, 2019: We updated Minehut from 1.14.2 to 1.14.3.
• June 25, 2019: We started up a Minehut YouTube channel! We made the channel a bit prior, but this was the day we uploaded our first video on it. This channel will be used for various tutorials as well as update videos and anything else related.
• June 27, 2019: We reduced our free plan to 1GB and 10 player slots. Anyone who had 20 player slots will keep them.
• July 1 - 3, 2019: We hit 3 new player records 3 days in a row. We went from 3890 to 4724 players online at once. This was the first time we hit more than 4000 players online at once.
• July 7: HBomb94 live-streams his Murder Mystery server on Minehut. He's been working on it for almost the past month with help from the Minehut Build Team and admins!
• July 7 - 12, 2019: We broke our player record 6 days in a row! We went from 4724 players online to 5548 players online at once!
• July 14 - 15, 2019: We broke our player record another 2 days in a row. We went from 5600 players to 5805 players online at once.
• July 16, 2019: Minehut runs a build competition in partnership with the Angry Birds 2 movie. Players need to build a Angry Birds related build with a partner by the 28th and the top 3 winners receive prizes! The builds will be judged by Shubble and Strawburry17.
• July 24, 2019: We updated Minehut from 1.14.3 to 1.14.4. We also added a new 4th lobby to help handle the amount of players.
• July 27, 2019: Our Minehut YouTube channel hits 1000 subscribers!
• July 28, 2019: Our Discord server hits a new record of 20000 people in it.
• July 29, 2019: We hit a new player record of 5970 players online at once.
• July 31, 2019: We hit a new player record of 6165 players online at once. This was the first time we had over 6000 players online and our current player record that still stands as of writing this. We get the most players online during the summer months.
• August 1, 2019: We promoted 6 new players to our staff team as Junior Mods!
• August 9, 2019: We added View Distance and Resource Pack Hash as 2 new options you can change in Server Properties on the panel! We also whitelisted the .dat file extension on the panel's file manager.
• August 13, 2019: We updated the look of the profile page! This now includes a button to quickly view all of your recent credit purchases.
• August 15, 2019: The winners to the Well-Nested Angry Birds 2 build competition were announced! 
• August 19, 2019: When your server is coming out of hibernation, it now includes a video you can quickly watch while your server is starting up! You can also now directly download your account's data right from your profile page.
• August 20, 2019: Our Minehut YouTube channel hits 2000 subscribers!
• August 29, 2019: Nitro boosters in our Discord server can now invite up to 2 other people to view the private Boosters category!
• September 6, 2019: We added a new restart button to the panel! We also made it possible to buy more than 2 servers and we moved all network commands to our proxy to prevent players from using sudo.
• September 9, 2019: Our Minehut YouTube channel hits 3000 subscribers!
• September 13, 2019: Anyone boosting the Minehut Discord server now have access to a private voice channel to themselves!
• September 25, 2019: You are now able to update your server's spawn protection in the Server Properties tab on the panel.
• September 28, 2019: We updated Minehut's homepage to a new design! We also made it possible to IP ban users again, but we also mask IPs for safety so player server owner's cannot view your real IP.
• October 2, 2019: We promoted a new person (theminecoder) to admin! He has a ton of experience from a ton of other Minecraft servers and projects and will now be focusing on Minehut to help work on network development.
• October 14, 2019: We increased our max server capacity to 2090 servers.
• October 17, 2019: Our Minehut YouTube channel hits 4000 subscribers! We also increased our max server capacity to 2242 servers.
• October 29, 2019: We promoted 5 new players to join our staff team as Junior Mods!
• November 16, 2019: We increased our max server capacity to 3000 servers.
• November 20, 2019: We were finally able to increase our max server capacity to 4000 servers. This was the most we've ever had!
• November 25, 2019: Our Minehut YouTube channel hits 5000 subscribers!
• November 27, 2019: We released a new Minehut lobby. This lobby is the biggest lobby we've had and was built by the Minehut Build Team with help from friends. It includes nostalgic as well as a ton of easter eggs to explore!
• December 1, 2019: The start of our Christmas Advent Calendar. We're hosting a different event everyday leading up to Christmas!
• December 13, 2019: We updated Minehut from 1.14.4 to 1.15.
• December 17, 2019: We updated Minehut from 1.15 to 1.15.1.

 

Popular Servers throughout 2019

Through 2019, we've seen the popularity of different servers rise and fall throughout the year. From genpvp servers, to duels, to flag capturing servers, we've seen a ton of popular servers gain popularity throughout this year. Do you remember any of these, and which ones are we missing? These servers aren't listed in any particular order.

• Hail. First featured server of 2019. Popular GenPvP server near the beginning of the year.
• TIMH (Trouble in Minehut). Murder Mystery styled gamemode quite popular throughout the summer.
• FlagClash. Place down a flag and defend it from other players. Quite popular during the autumn.
• ValkNet. Server host inside of a server host. Popular near the beginning of winter.
• beans. Elytra PVP server. Somehow gained popularity recently after a year of inactivity.
• PlexPvP. Overly-developed GenPvP server. Quite popular the beginning half of the year.
• Warzone. Objective-based gamemodes. Popular in the second half of the year.
• Idler. Click buttons and AFK to get upgrades! Quite popular throughout the first few months of the year.
• Glide. Elytra server, finish the elytra courses without falling! Popular throughout the summer months.
• LavaS. Play survival in a world filled with lava! Was popular during the summer months.
• Runners. Try surviving in a maze-runner styled gamemode. Popular during late summer, early autumn.
• BankNote. PvP players to gain upgrades. Quite popular at the end of the year.

 

Minehut Growth in 2019

Minehut has been growing quite a bit ever since the Super League acquisition in June 2018. But Minehut's growth really took off during 2019 and grew much faster than anyone anticipated! Even to the point where we were almost unable to handle the amount of new players and servers that were being created. With that said, check out some of these stats that we compiled throughout the year below.

• Broke our player record 29 times in 2019.
• Went from a player record of 1057 players to 6165 players online at once.
• Created a YouTube channel and gained almost 6000 subscribers within the second half of the year.
• The Discord server more than doubled its size from around 10k users to over 25k users.
• Over 2 million messages sent in our Discord server from players and staff members like you.
• Counted over 30k in our Discord server in the second half of the year for our quest to count to 1 million!
• Increased our network size from 896 GB to 4.2 TB of ram for player servers.
• Added hundreds of new plugins to Minehut suggested by you guys!
• Over 850k new servers created on Minehut (to a total of almost 1.1 million servers created).
• Over 600k new accounts joined Minehut for the first time.
• Since the new forums was created, almost 70k players made an account on the forums.
• Over 25k new posts have been posted on the forums.
• The largest forums club hit over 200 members.
• Promoted 20 new players to the Minehut volunteer moderation team.
• Over 150 applications submitted to join the staff team.

 

Thank you to everybody that has made this year possible. Minehut has grown and changed so much within 2019, and none of this would've been possible without you guys! To people like you who continue to play on our servers, to people like you who play in our events, and to people like you who make this community as awesome as it is. Thank you for making Minehut what it is. No matter where we might end up, here's to another decade of Minehut!
