Tpa is broken on my server

When I was trying to add /tpa, /tpaccept, and /tpdeny to the default group's permissions I was wondering why it would never work but other commands would. then I moved myself to the Owner group {Which has access to all perms} and opped myself but then I realized that even as Owner and op I didn't have access to /tpa???

Make sure you have all essentials plugins installed

make sure correct perm nodes

    - essentials.tpdeny
    - essentials.tpahere
    - essentials.tpaccept
    - essentials.tpa

ive tried reinstalling essentials and resetting the config and tpa still does not work
