MY SERVER RESET AND DELETED AND GONE please info

i had my server for over  a year now with my friends and i was literally on before i went to eat dinner, i got off to eat and when i returned my server was reset and i was dumped in a random seed. i have no idea what happened, and in hub chat, everyone was relating saying that it happened to them too or that it was only the free servers or something about a mole which ive got no clue what that means. please someone let me know whats going on and if its temporary, etc.
