server shuts down whenever friend joins

Me and two of my friends (friend A and friend B) recently made a new server for us to play on. The first days we had some problems where the server would randomly shut down every five minutes, but after that it appeared to be working fine.

Individually, all three of us can play without any problem. I can play with friend A with no problem whatsoever, but whenever I’m on and friend B joins the server always immediately shuts down.

Yesterday we got lucky at some point and the server didn’t shut down, but friend B couldn’t see any of my messages or their own, and we could only speak via /msg https://19216811.cam/ https://1921681001.id/

Friend A and B have not tried being on with just the two of them, so I don’t know whether that would work.

Does anyone know what’s causing this problem? Or how to fix it?

Some extra information in case it’s useful:

sometimes when it shuts down it goes back in time a bit (but the way it does is strange, I put some items in a chest, and the server shut down and went back in time When I started it again it both put those items back in my inventory and left them in the chest so I ended up with double the amount of certain items if that makes any sense)

The server is vanilla 1.18.2
