How do i activate Slimefun on my server?

So i downloaded slimefun off of a website not using the shop thing, but once i tried /slimefun in game it would reply with "An internal error occurred while attempting to perform this command" in red text, once i looked into the console it just said

Slimefun v4.1.8 - plugin is disabled.

And then a bunch of other crap and text. But i can't figure out how i activate slimefun, or if thats even the issue
