How to whitelist players on bedrock-

I have tried to whitelist people on bedrock- as I've heard it's supposed to work! I have friends desperately asking me to whitelist them. I know the command to whitelist: /whitelist add (insert name). I can't figure out whether or not to do it in-game or in-console, or whether or not to but an * before the name or not. It seems to only work in-game. I've tried to whitelist my own bedrock account in the past, but despite me "not being whitelist on this server", it says "this player is already whitelisted" in Java Edition. Now it doesn't tell me that I'm not whitelist on bedrock, but it rather kicks me and sends me back to the lobby.

hmm, I dont know. you would probably have to unwhitelist, join on the unwhitelisted/glitched account and whitelist them there, then turn it back on
