java.lang.stackoverflow I cannot join a server

So my friend owns a 1.18 (not 1.18.1) vanilla server on Minehut. 75% of the time I am able to join no problem. However sometimes when I join it kicks me out and gives this message in the chat: Internal Exception: java.lang.StackOverflowError
If I try again, it would just send me back to the lobby. The server is a free server.

Hi if you still have this problem try to switch from vanilla to paper and choose the version you want to play on, restart the server and it should be fixed, if the server crashes the first time after changing to paper try again in 10 minutes. (I had this same problem and this worked for me)
