Friends joining server without permission

Started a private minecraft server a while ago and my friends seem to be able to join my server even if stop the server. I stop the server after every session, yet when my friends joins the public lobby and types /lobby or /join*my server name* the lobby starts and they can play without my permission. Any way to stop this from happening?

There is no way currently to prevent joining/starting a server from the lobby but you can just remove your friends from the whitelist when you don't want them to be able to join. And then just add them back when you do want them to be able to play.
