The 1.17 Update

I have a 1.16 server, but my friends want to update the server, but i dont know if i can do that without restarting the server, is it possible to update without distroying all mine and my friends builds, they made so many, and very beautiful, i dont want it gone, so if there is a way, please share

Minehut servers are currently still on 1.16.5 and when spigot releases a 1.17 version, they will update all Minehut servers automatically. Nothing will reset. Just all new chunks will have the new 1.17 things in them.
