Joining my 1.16.5 server after the 1.17 update takes me to the Minehut lobby

Borpy

Question

The title says it; I can't join my server because when I join it it takes me to the Minehut lobby, and in the dashboard, instead of "ONLINE", "OFFLINE", or "Hibernating", it says "Downloading".

Here's what I tried:

- Restarting the server.

- Stopping the server.

- Repairing server files in the "danger zone"

- Joining through the Minecraft server list

- Joining through the minehut lobby itself

Can anyone help me please? Minehut is the only method I have of playing Minecraft with my friends without having to join Hypixel or other servers. Thanks in advance.

So is the issue the server isn't starting or it just takes you to the lobby when you try to join? Make sure you are using 1.16.5 because the servers are not yet on 1.17.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, it starts up, but it takes me to the lobby when I try to join, and I'm using 1.16.5 optifine

Does it say anything in chat when you try to join? And make sure the server is fully online before joining.

Sounds like a different issue than the wrong client. You should get a white or red message in chat if you scroll up a bit after getting kicked back to the lobby. Can you please share what that says?

I am having a similar problem, the message in chat says "The server you were on kicked you: Unable to connect to [long string of numbers/letter] Try again later."
We dont know what caused it or how to fix it.

This most likely means the server you're trying to connect to isn't 100% online. Whether it's crashing after starting up or something similar, you should try looking into plugins like skript that could easily cause the server to crash.

If you spawned in too many entities, you may want to run `/kill @e[type=!player]` in console and then try connecting.

Other than that, if the issue still persists, I would recommend making a support ticket.
