Too many items crash

Hi, so I have a server with 3 friends. One of them gave the other 50000 items and now we can't connect back to the server because it keeps crashing. I tried the /kill @e[type=item] command multiple times, but it just doesn't want to work. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

1. Start your server and don't join
2. Go to your server's panel
3. Appearance -> Server Command
4. minecraft:kill @e[type=item]
5. Join to see if anything changed

It might not have worked for different reasons, the steps above work most of the time, it's pretty rare that it doesn't. One of the reasons might be that if you have Essentials installed, it overrides the kill command, and kill @e isn't recognized by the plugin, that's why adding minecraft: as the namespace helps

I tried it but when I logged in the items were still there

I had a similar problem but with slimes i used skript and just made it every 1 second kill all slimes that worked for me.
