How do I mute someone?

As the title suggests, I need a way to mute someone. Not like a server mute. I just want a way for their messages to stop popping up on my screen, although they can appear on others, I just want them off my screen. /ignore doesn't work and /mute needs OP, so how do I mute them for myself and me only?

Hey there,

You can use "/ignore (player)". I'm pretty sure this will stop you from seeing their messages.

Try hitting the P key on your keyboard. If you’re on 1.16.1+, this’ll bring up a menu where I’m pretty sure you can globally ignore users.
