Server disconnected me. When I logged back on, It said I had died and I was back at my spawn point.

I was out exploring a couple thousand blocks away from my spawn point/home. Then the server disconnected me and then when I logged back in it had said I died. I respawned back at my home, but I lost all of my stuff in my inventory (iron gear and a netherite pick). I went back to the place of death before it should’ve despawned but nothing was there. Any explanation/suggestions?

I have a couple of thoughts on this. Number one maybe it had despawned because the chunk it was is was removed. Or maybe you were lagging and died?? Not sure of any other reasons other then fall damage!
