In short, me and my friend started up a new server owned by the latter, and when I tried to join it later on my own (by using /join servername) the world was on a brand new seed, completely void of our past progress. He's yet to get back on so I haven't seen if letting him activate it instead fixes it or not. I've started the world twice (w/ the correct spelling, I checked), with the world being reset and changing seeds each time.
Am I just not able to startup someone else's world or is there something I'm missing, and why does me doing so completely reset the world and seed? Just to clarify, this is from activating/starting a server when its offline; each time I started up the server I waited for it to go offline first.
