Glitched server

About 2 weeks ago, my friend accidentally gave himself 100000 birch planks. The entire server just crashed and everyone was logged out of minecraft completely. We have been trying to restart the server for so long and we cant. We dont want to completely reset the world because we have a lot of progress but we can not get into the world without it crashing minecraft completely. Any advice or suggestions?

Hey,

Could you try starting your server but not joining it. Right when it starts up, could you execute the command '/kill @e[type=item]' in the server commands tab under appearance. This should remove any items on the ground and hopefully fix your issue.
