Need help with chat and team colors

I was wondering how I can make it so team colors show up in chat instead of the plain white? I heard there was a setting in paper.yml but I can't edit it.

No, I'm just using the vanilla teams feature.

You want team to have a different chat color? The the correct command is /team modify <team> color <color>. Here is a website that will show you everything you can do with the teams command.

Thank you but I know how to change team colors, I just want it to show up when people talk in chat instead of just white names

Ya. Do the command I said above. That should set the team to a specific color.

I did that command and it shows up in the leaderboard  but not in the chat, here is an example

Hm not sure. I really haven't used the team command much either. My knowledge on it is just from the website I showed. According to the site, the color Decide the color of the team and players in chat, above their head, on the Tab menu, and on the sidebar. Also changes the color of the outline of the entities caused by the Glowing effect. What plugins do you have? If you have some sort of chat format plugin, that might be overriding the color chat for the teams. Like EssentialsChat is a chat format plugin that could do that.

I just tested it on a single player world and the team color will only make your name the color but will not make the chat that color.

Put
use-vanilla-world-scoreboard-name-coloring: true
instead of
use-vanilla-world-scoreboard-name-coloring: false
It's on minehut.

Go dashboard>your server>file manager. There, find paper.yml. Go down the file until you find
use-vanilla-world-scoreboard-name-coloring: false
and change it's value.
