If you want users to join from previous versions you can either use the ProtocolSupport plugin or ViaVersion and its additions (ViaBackwards, which allows support from 1.9+, and ViaRewind, which allows support for 1.8.x)Old Combat (1.8) If you're trying to implement 1.8 PVP then there are plugins such as OldCombatMechanics, Combat Elite and BackToTheRoots that recreate the 1.8 combat mechanics you're looking for.
