1.16.1 Nether Fortress mobs not spawning

After the Nether Update (1.16.1), I was mining in the Nether for ancient debris. My server was on Peaceful when I went into the Nether to do so (which might be the cause of this problem, I'm not entirely sure). However, when I turned the game back on normal difficulty, the Nether Fortress that was next to my Nether Portal spawn was absent of any Blazes and wither skeletons. None were spawning, either. There were still Piglins and Zombie Piglins down on the floor below the fortress, though. Also, the Blaze spawner in the Fortress doesn't work, even when the light levels are low enough for it to usually work (like before the update). Was wondering what the issue was and if you guys could help in any way. Thanks!

also when i tried using spawner eggs for wither skeletons in the nether fortress, they appeared for a quick second and then quickly despawned. not sure why

Hey! Mobs spawning and then immediately despawning sound like something that would happen in peaceful mode, but you mentioned your server being put back into normal mode. Have you tried restarting the server? If you have already tried that, try putting the server into hibernation through the 'danger zone' tab of your console. Quote this with any other questions you have.

I've tried hibernating it after putting it on normal mode. it also might help to add that the spawner eggs worked in the overworld but not the nether, so maybe this is some sort of bug with the nether? thanks anyway though!
