Difficulty

I have a server with a world that i have uploaded. How do i change the difficulty of the uploaded world? If i do /difficulty peaceful it says: "The difficulty did not change: it is already set to peaceful" But when i press ESC and press options it says in the top right that the difficulty is easy. There are mobs spawning at night.

The only plugin that i have is WorldEdit

You can change it within the panel. In "Server Settings", there should be an option to change this. (A restart may be necessary for it to be implemented).

I have set it on peaceful with the server settings but it doesn't change in the world

I got it working by setting it to hard and back to peaceful
