Ah yes, I do love an ad that follows you on your screen (a fixed element for you css nerds). Minehut gets money if you vote (I think). With the new server plans, if you vote for enough credits to get the first paid plan, they are getting money.

So, in conclusion, it's either Minehut needs money in the current pandemic or they are just adding ads and plans. Who knows

Minehut has came out to say that they are doing this for money, and that they are not profiting off of minehut. Voting doesn't give minehut money, but they still reward players who vote with credits, because yes. But the ads and the server plans are because minehut needs the money to run the servers for us.

I got AdBlockPlus and it doesn't work, at least on Minehut, not sure if it works on other pages. I have had it for a while

It didn't work for me, but you can easily block elements using the "block element" button

The plans were mostly added due to that minehut wasn't getting money. The money helps to open up more server's for players, and even create one.

I had to update my Adblock and it started working on the minehut ads again.

I agree, I believe the number of adverts on the forums is slightly excessive- however, it's the price we pay for a free service

you are correct, they have stated recently they are specifically focusing on monetization features, instead of higher priority features for users. so you could reasonably infer that means they need money
