Server Destroyed

I have absolutely no idea what happened. I work on a closed server with my boyfriend, and he was not online when it happened. Last night I switched to creative and was building some underground traps to trick him with. When I returned to our base, it had been completely destroyed? I first assumed it was lightning and had burned down or something. I got back on this morning and paid more attention to it. Specific pieces of fence had been deleted to release all of the animals, beds were gone in building that did not have outside damage to them, our birds were gone from inside a structure, etc. Just a lot of really weird stuff. I don't know if it glitched out, if the server got compromised, or what. Is there a way to set the server back to a few days prior to this happening? I really don't want to have to have to fix everything when I didn't cause it, and it doesn't appear to be something that happened naturally in game.

Oh wow. Thank you. This is the first time I have used a server on here and didn't even know people did stuff like that. What a disappointment.

Your server may have been unlisted but not whitelisted which would allow someone to log in and destroy all your stuff. In the future, whitelist your server and download the plugin CoreProtect which will allow you to log and revert griefing. More info can be found on how to whitelist your server here.
