ok I have a lot of questions. does the add-on panel have mods? if so I can't find any! is it because my server is paper? not sponge forge? What will happen if I switch my server to sponge forge? will it erase all the progress? Will it add mods? please help!

Hello I was wondering when I click edit server on my mine hut server... there's a thing next to the current version its on (1.16.5) that says update. if I click update what will happen? will it erase anything?

when I try to join my server ON 1.17 it says its outdated and on 1.16.5 please help is there anything I need to do in order to update my server??
