    my server is outdated do i just wait for it to up date or i have to update it myself

      And that's how you can play on your server until Minehut successfully upgrades all servers to run Paper 1.17. Keep in mind, ViaVersion plugin will only allow you to join with 1.17 but your server is still on 1.16.5, so you might notice things like 1.17 items turning into stone as soon as you drag them into your inventory, etc.
