i've been trying multiple times to even just join the minehut server, yet it kept on saying that the server authentication system is down for maintenance. please help.

me too, im having a similar issue here. But i can't even go in to the minehut's lobby. it always says "server is down for maintenance but i dont believe that because there's people playing in it and my friend's (irl friend) is calling me at the moment and was playing in the minecraft server. i thought minehut was the perfect free server but man was I wrong. the devs wont even help. customer service is just awful.
