  1. I honestly recommend that you find a consistent and legitimate job. Minehut really isn’t a job and it isn’t reliable. There is a crisis currently with not enough people looking for jobs where I live. I don’t know if this is the case where you live. I hope you find fulfilling work that pays for your living arrangement.

Hey, I used to play Minehut and minecraft basically everyday and ive now stopped playing minehut which eventually led me to quitting minecraft - because of my boredem. I came onto the forums to see everything but nothing seems the same anymore. I am aware of the drastic changes done to minehut within this year but everything related with minehut feels less then it used to be. Even on the forums, there seems to not be alot of posts and not alot of people. All recent stuff is mostly necroposting without anything being taken down or anything. I also have seen that the new moderation system is not the best compared to before.

Should I return to minehut / minehut forums?

I honestly wouldn’t recommend returning. Minehut isn’t the same anymore. They laid off all the paid moderators and now require chat signing in the lobbies. The potential and promise that once existed won’t be fulfilled. The forums has become a wasteland and the discord is full of spam. The lobbies are either full of people not using /ad and spammers or completely desolate. The servers are just as unoriginal as before.

@Checkmate128It doesn't work. It gives no errors but drinking a honey bottle named glue bottle does not give you nausea.

I want to do debugging and see which section is not working. Use this code:

    on consume of honey bottle:
        broadcast "item type check passed"
if name of event-item is "&o&aGlue Bottle":
            broadcast "item name check passed"
            effect player with nausea

Let me know what is outputted into chat when you apply my provided skript and drink the appropriately named honey bottle.

@Checkmate128Do you know anything about the other issue? Changing it to event-item didnt fix it but removed the errors. The rest of the code works if I remove the if thing but then it happens for all honey bottles.

    Option 1:

    on consume of honey bottle:
name of event-item is "&o&aGlue Bottle"
        effect player with nausea

    Option 2:

    on consume of honey bottle:
if name of event-item is "&o&aGlue Bottle":
            effect player with nausea

    Either one should work.

  6. That should be a mute and not a ban. 2 months is really excessive and worries me greatly. Please contact support via the link that the previous user provided. I know the odds of anything happening to remedy this situation are low, but it is worth a shot.

i wonder why... cuz its offensive 🤦‍♂️... and its not "light swearing", its a word to offend a certain group of people.. its not sad that its bannable.

It is quite problematic that severe punishments are being doled out for chat infractions. Not only is the length seriously concerning, the fact that this was a ban instead of a mute is of greater concern. He made the mistake of saying 6 letters in chat and received a multiple month ban. I don't know his punishment history and maybe he has like 5 prior punishments, but this ban is very extreme for what he actually did. His ban is longer than some sentences for retail theft that I have seen. I can guarantee that those retail thefts have done more harm to the world than the 6 letters he typed before pressing the enter key.

Im just confused why they cant like help to figure out why its increased so much

"Our punishment system scales, so the more times you are punished the longer the duration gets. If you're upset about how long it is you can try following the rules"

Ahh yes 15 minute ban = 2 month and 3 week ban

and 1 day mute = 2 month 3 week mute

    :)))

also im like never punished (ban-wise)

I think they increased the punishment lengths because they knew that getting rid of the paid staff team would drastically increase the player-to-staff ratio. Longer punishment times means less reoffenders per day which means less work for staff. The reason they switched from a mutes to bans for many things has to do with their philosophical transition from a "service provider" to a "platform" as I mentioned in my earlier replies.

Getting banned from minehut is like a chainsmoker trying to quit cigarettes

Cigarettes are the chainsmokers favorite thing, and then its just suddenly taken away because of yourself, you found the side affects, and its bad for you

Just like that, minehut was my favorite server. Then it just suddenly got taken away

It might not make sense im not good at this stuff lmao

Some people might say "oh its just 2 months and 3 weeks wait it out"

Whenever you rely on a server to have income, it kinda matters dude

    Anyways, well said

You're the only one that can agree with me @Checkmate128

But minehut, cmon, 2 months for the r slur??

I completely understand the way you feel. Unfortunately, stuff like this is the consequence of the current state of the internet. When one big fish dominates the whole pond, is it really possible for small fish to thrive. The smaller fish are probably better hunters with prettier scales, but they stand no chance against the big fish.

This lack of market competitiveness has pervaded society since its beginning. Whether you look at the 1800s and 1900s with Carnegie, Rockefeller, and J.P. Morgan or even now with the dominance of Walmart, Starbucks, and McDonalds, the need to establish competitive conditions in markets has been important to governments since their very inception.

Competitive market conditions are important because they give consumers an ability to choose between various competitors who compete to provide the best value for their product. The early days of the internet had many smaller competitors. These companies, websites, etc. promoted individual freedom because each banned user was lost revenue for them and each banned user would just use a different service. The internet is no longer in its golden age. I would say that ended in 2015. There is now so little competition that one company often controls the vast majority of users in a particular market. This state of affairs only benefits the large companies and directly hurts consumers.

Ultimately, this situation will eventually change. This change will not be through government intervention like in the 1800s or 1900s though. This change will be the result of individuals choosing free and open source software. This change will be the result of people quitting their dependence on large companies. This change will be the result of people learning to love nature, the outdoors, and their own solitude.

Now, about your point of Minehut "suddenly being taken away": Nothing ever suddenly disappears. There is always a journey. Every villain has a story, nobody suddenly goes from perfect to evil overnight. I think the beginning of this journey was the removal of the volunteer staff team. I know there were legal reasons behind it, but I still liked the volunteer team best. Or maybe the beginning of this journey was the rules change in July or an entirely different event.

My advice to you is, spend your time and money somewhere that shares your values. This is probably the easiest way to find happiness. I also recommend going outside and seeing the beauty of the natural world and quitting all social media. I recommend the use of free and open source software since those creations are owned by nobody just like the natural world. My best wishes to you in your journey. I hope everything I have said serves you well and allows you to find the purest form of happiness: that which comes from yourself.

  10. This is just the way it always works. A small project driven by passionate individuals is bought out by a large corporation and gradually sacrifices individual freedom for centralized control and increased profits. I have seen this show before. I have seen this show many times.

Minehut now sees itself as a platform and not a service provider. The difference being a service provider does not moderate its users' actions in their own spaces (servers) while a platform does. Think of the difference between your phone company and Reddit. Your phone company does not listen to your calls while Reddit moderates its subreddits for compliance to a set of rules.

The internet and the world as a whole is moving away from the freedom of individual expression and speech. This is just a fad, as the values of society always oscillate about the same axis. But while this fad persists, we must know the bounds of our own individuality.

Ultimately, the decision that maximizes our own happiness may be to go out into nature in solitude to observe its beauty, to find happiness that is independent of any company, and to appreciate the things that are owned by nobody. We may find that through observation and understanding of phenomena, we may obtain a greater understanding of ourselves, others, and the world in general.

So, to the person reading this who is facing an unfair punishment, please for your own sake, find happiness that comes from yourself and yourself only. Your ban has as much power over you as you let it have. I hope you find that happiness.
