Hey there!
You don't need to change your server version for it to be compatible, it is perfectly fine the way it is.
You need to join the Minehut lobby and type /server <servername> or /join <servername> this will take you to your server and you can start to play.

The reasosn you experienced this error was because Minehut was down for maintenence. It is all fine now!
