I made a minecraft server and I wanted my friends to join. So I gave them the IP and the right version but they could not join. I turned the whitelist off but they still couldn't join. I put them on the whitelist and they STILL COULDN'T JOIN! WHAT DO I DO?

I am making a server and I want it to be open to anyone. I did /whitelist off and told my friends to join! They could not. Please help me!
