hi all i was starting out with a villager farm for trading and they have all vanished anyone know why this happened one was in a boat so i do not understand how this happened how do i fix this?

Hi all not my server but a friends A chunk in my base is locked and anything I do to the chunk gets reset i am unable to open chests and mine blocks in the chunk. It seems this only happens inside the chunk and all things out side works fine is there any way to fix this?
