okay so I figured out how to change it to onoine mode but it's still kicking us when we type anything halp

There's a "-" in chat when we log on the server and as soon as we type something on chat (even om signs) we get kicked. The console is warning me that the server is on "offline/insecure mode" and is telling me to change it to online mode but there are no instructions ;-; we just want to play some minecraft bruh we've had this server for a few weeks so idk why this is happening suddenly. How do I fix this??????
