@Spiderlogical It worked but I get a message every time I activate it, anyway to stop that?

So im making an rp server and I want players to press a button and receive an item (like paper). So they'll press the button and receive 1 paper and can do what they need to do with it. So when I type /give @p paper 1 and press the button it doesn't give anything and the error in the command block says "player not found". Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it? It does work when I put /give Jakesnake008 paper 1 and its just me (if that matters). @p and @a doesn't work and I don't know why and I cant find anything on the internet.
